Tax refund being offest by FMS-reasons why?

I just checkedonline for the status of my tax refund & it said my refund was mailed yesterday but then underneath it had a link for me to click about a situation that may apply to my tax refund. So, I clicked the link and it was about FMS & how they may reduce a persons refund to pay a past due obligation such as child support,a federal agency debt,or state income taxes. I was wondering if everyone is given this info online when they check the status of their refund,or is it only there for people who are actually going to have their refund offset? I ask this because I do not owe child support (I am a mom & my son lives with me)I do not owe any state income taxes(I already got my state refund & have never owed to the state) and I do not have any government loans, student loans,ANYTHING LIKE THAT.What else could this possibly be for? I do have some unpaid parking tickets, but it did not say that the refund could be offset because of that. I’d appreciate any input on what debts theirallowed

I don’t know. Maybe, it could be those parking tickets. Could the county have contacted the IRS?

Since it said that your check has been mailed, it sounds like it’s just a general message and doesn’t apply to you

I suspect that that’s just a general information link. But it’s pretty easy to verify!

Call 1-800-304-3107. That’s the FMS Autoresponder. You punch in your SSN and some other identifying information and it will tell you if you are flagged for offset and if so for how much and for what reason.

Nomally you would receive a letter from FMS in November or December if your account was flagged for offset along with the amount and the contact information for the agency that was collecting it so that you could verify the debt.
